This year the Star Lake Junior Heifer Futurity Show once again raised the bar with both numbers and quality. This year 23 head where sorted by Judge Tom Hawk, manager of DelHawk Cattle Company in Earlville, Illinois.

 

          Once Judge Hawk was finished picking his class winners he had one of the deepest championship drives in recent memory to try and pick his Champion and Reserve from and when he did it was a family affair. Austin and Andre Howe where picked as Champion and Reserve after making the long trip from New Enterprise, Pennsylvania to participate in this ever growing junior event.

 

          Austin was named the Grand Champion with STAR 115N Polly Beth 35T that was born on January 9th 2007 and is out of the two time National Champion Palliadin.  Andre was named Reserve Champion with STAR 19R Carlene 137T ET out of Fort Worth Champion SB 122L Git-R-Done 19R.

 

          Congratulations to not only the Howe family but everyone who participated. All of us at Star Lake truly believe that the juniors are the future of the breed. Judging by what we saw at the Futurity this year the future sure looks bright.
